   IN THE NAME OF GOD

Prayer is a ladder towards Almighty God and the ever-current stream, washing the people. The prayer is an acknowledgement to slavery before it is the instrument for living and more than fulfilling the desires of the body, it fulfills the wishes and needs and more than expanding the bread, it fattens the soul.

The era when Imam Sajjad (p.b.u.h.) was living, was an era when the religious values have been altered and under such circumstances, the religious training of the people was lessened and comedown and the negligence values have been revived. Imam Sajjad (p.b.u.h.) was seeking bound of the people with God through prayers. From viewpoint of Imam Sajjad, prayers is not mono dimensional only to consider the materialistic poverty or the spiritual requirements, but prayers in general enjoys a special comprehensiveness which is both related to the world and to the afterlife. It both mentions the spiritual needs and materialistic demands.

One of the propagating and fighting methods of Imam Sajjad (p.b.u.h.) was to elaborate Islamic instructions within the framework of prayers. Imam has prescribed in his valuable book: Sahifa the very important themes within the framework of prayers, among the important political and religious themes of which we can mention Imamate. Imamate is a Shiite term. In addition to truthfulness of leading, it carries the divine aspects of innocence, profiting from the sciences of the prophets, specially that of holy prophet in a high limit.

Indeed, who will hear the voice of Imam reflected by the firm words of Sahifa Sajjadieh, without finding out who deserves divine leadership! Imam prescribes: “My God! This high rank which belongs to Your successors and selected people and the high rank of Your trustees which is of great degrees, which You have bestowed to me, have been stolen, have been usurped… ultimately, Your selected, Your successors are defeated, exposed to wrath. They witness that Your Order has been changed, Your book has been stolen, Your decrees are deviated from the paths of religion and traditions of the prophet (p.b.u.h.) and are deserted.

Imam Sajjad (p.b.u.h.) confirms in his prayers the Imamate of descendants of prophet of God who serve as the firmest pillars of leading and the strongest means of faith. He prescribes: “My God! Send my greetings to the purest members of prophet’s family. Those who are selected to perform religious affairs, those who are elected as treasurers of Your Science and as Protectors of Your religion, those who are elected as Your successors on the earth.”

Imam Sajjad (p.b.u.h.) instructed to the generations the sacred ruling of the innocent people in his own words through prayers and has made a deep and firm bound among passion, action, and aspiration. Though he has not equipped the marital forces against the oppressive governments of his own time, but, in his instructions, he has founded the thought of standing against inequality and believing in sovereignty of Religion and necessity of leadership of a divine leader.
