In the Name of
God “Who is He who
fulfills the prayers of the helpless people calling Him and removes
their sufferings and pains?”
(Sura: Namal, verse: 62)
The helpless
people
calling Him, means that
God shall fulfill the prayers of those who call Him. The word:
helpless means that at present, the prayers of the claimant are true
and are not useless. The other adverb used for prayers is that God
prescribed:
“(When)
calling Him” is to state
that God fulfills the prayers when the claimant truly calls Him, not
when he asks God for help but he wishes the other means to help him
and this shall happen when the claimant does not expect anyone to help
him and is aware that no one and nothing might help him, and at this
time, he truly wishes for God’s help.
So, if the
prayers are honest and true, and when the person in need only calls
God, this is the time, when God shall fulfill his prayers and shall
solve the problem which has bothered him. 1
In verse 60 of
sura: Momen, God prescribes: “I
am near you and when I am called, I shall fulfill your needs.”
By observing
such verses, the heart makes sure that the only one who fulfills one’s
wishes and one’s prayers is Almighty God. He is the absolute owner and
the only possessor of the world of being and this is obvious that it
is essential to ask him to help us, which makes a means of faith and
no one but God shall deserve to be requested for help.2
In
Nahjolbalaghah, in one of the testimonies of Imam Ali (peace be upon
him) to Imam Hossein (p.b.u.h.) it has been mentioned:
“Almighty
God put in your hands the key to all His mysteries treasury and the
clue is that He has let you ask him for help. By the same key, which
is prayers, you might open every door to His graces and you might let
the rain of His graces come to you. So, never be disappointed by God’s
fulfillment of your prayers because you will receive the same amount
you had asked for and fulfillment of your prayers is delayed when it
will bring to you more awards and the greatest grant is the same as
the wish and the expectation for help. You might ask God for something
of which He will deprive you, but He will give you something better
instead whether in this world or after death. Probably He does not
fulfill your prayers, only to take out of you a catastrophe, because
you had requested for something which was harmful to you. It happens
many times that you ask Him for something which is harmful and will
destroy you religion. If God fulfills your wish, you will lose your
faith and religion, so, you would rather ask God for something the
beauty and grace of which will remain.”3
Imam Mohammad
Bagher (p.b.u.h.) stated: “God
might shame of rejecting the prayers and wills of the creature who has
taken his hands to Almighty God, for having not fulfilled his prayers.
Finally, God will put in it something out of His grace. So, whenever
you pray, do not take back your hands, without put your hands on your
face and your head”.4
