Imam Reza (p.b.u.h.)
stated: “Be faithful to
Almighty God, because Almighty God prescribed:
“I am ready in the mind of
my creatures. So, My creatures, only be faithful to Me.”1
Safian ibn Eynieh said: “I
have heard Imam Sadegh (p.b.u.h.) that he stated: Being faithful to God means
that do not be hopeful to anyone except God and do not fear anything except
your sins.
And Imam Reza (p.b.u.h.) stated:
This is relying on God. It means that you should not fear anyone, except God.”2
Relying on God means that
you trust Him and you depend on Almighty God in all your affairs. You love Him
inside you and in appearance and you request Him to help you. Of course such a
status is resulted by the attainment of knowledge of God and the more the man
is known for his science, power, and culture and gift, the more he will trust
and will depend on Almighty God and trusting God is a high rank, no one shall
reach, except the special creatures and the mystics.
The criterion for
knowledge of God and for relying on Him is separation from others, and trusting
only God. It means that in all the affairs, the man shall be hopeful to grant
and gifts of Almighty God who is the cause of everything and the man is the
agent, not the origin.3
God prescribes in Quran:
“One who relies on God
indeed, God shall suffice him.”
(Sura: Talagh, Verse: 3) for such a man, God shall be sufficient and whatever
he wishes for, Almighty God shall grant it to him. Of course what he considers
essential for his prosperity due to his pure instincts, not what he falsely
thinks that will bring to him happiness.
“God shall be sufficient
and shall be sponsor for him” means that Almighty God is the last cause, to
Whom all the causes and reasons are ended; consequently, when He Wills, it will
be done, and His will shall not be changed. Nothing shall stand between Him and
His Will. But, the other means which man utilizes in removing his needs, will
receive their being on the part of God and will own just to the extent that He
grants to them. And every powerful man holds power only to the extent that He
has gifted to him. As a result, as an agent, he shall take action to the extent
Almighty God has allowed him.
So, only God shall be
sufficient for one who relies on Him and no other cause shall possess such a
characteristic, except that holds a definite state and limited border, but God
accepts no limitation and is not surrounded by anything, and He surrounds
everything, Himself. 4
Imam Sadegh (p.b.u.h.)
prescribed: “Almighty God
inspired David (p.b.u.h.) and told him: Each of my creatures who only trust me
and is separated from others and I feel his intention at the bottom of his
heart, if all the creatures staying on land wish to trap him, I will let him
have a way to escape and if each of my creatures trust in another man and if I
know that he is hopeful to others, I will take from him all the means available
at the skies and on the land and will empty the earth under his steps.”6
(it means that God will leave him alone)
God prescribes in Quran: “Trust
in God and ask Him to help you because He is Superior to you and He is a proper
superior and a helper.” (sura:
Haj, verse: 78)
Except if God helps, no
one will be able to take the veils and to remove the obstacles and to travel to
the houses of light, so we have to assign to God, all our affairs and to ask
Him help us in all cases and told to Him: “God!
We are the weak creatures of You, take our hands, and let us escape all the
dangerous areas where it is probable at every moment to fall and to be
destroyed.” 7
