We talked about
purification of soul and we said that if human being receives the real
knowledge, the light of knowledge, he will be purified by the same
light. So, purification of soul is related to knowledge of truth and
light. Just as obtaining light of knowledge is related with
purification of soul which is a bilateral relation.
When one takes
much care and controls every second, i.e. when he makes it a condition
with God not to make errors in this day and mediates throughout the
day, and considers all his actions whether it is good or evil and if
he makes evil, he penances, such a being will result in purification
of soul and we shall purify our souls.
It has been
narrated that “There is a light in knowledge which Almighty God will
throw it to every heart He wishes.” This narration is related to the
verse, where God prescribes: “If you call me, your wish shall be
fulfilled.” When we seek knowledge and truth, God will select us. If
we request God in all our worship to grant to us light of knowledge
and we pray for it, God will grant us the same light. Our minds and
out thoughts shall be lighted. Each heart seeking for alight
knowledge, God will seek the same to him, but the time will be
determined by God. we might afford obtaining knowledge, but it is God
Himself Who shall determine when He Will Bestow to us the light. We
should not exit our borders. God will bestow to us the light whenever
He Wishes. He will determine the time when we ask him and He observes
our ability. But when will He fulfill our wish in practice? It is
whenever He Wishes. Hazrat Ali (p.b.u.h.) prescribes: Those who seek
knowledge, will attack to foresight and those who do not like the
outward knowledge, will not seek it.”
One who seeks the
real knowledge, will seek the light of all sorts of knowledge and will
avoid the knowledge without light. He only seeks the inside and
essence of sciences and considers a knowledge for which he will make
attempt and will reach the same light. He will tolerate all the
troubles and takes easy all the difficulties and see all of them as
graces.
To reach the
essence of each knowledge, each worship, each creature, we shall pass
the outward border. It means that we should completely perform the
appearance to reach the essence and to comprehend the light. For
example, the appearance of a worship like praying is the same as
avoiding polluted dress and making the recommended and the obligatory
acts and making the preliminaries of praying such as minor ablution,
call for prayer. To comprehend the essence of praying, we should
perform ablation, praying, obligatory and recommended acts and to
think about essence of praying at the same time, to purify ourselves.
Consequently, to reach the soul of praying, we should accompany the
appearance of praying with thought. So, comprehension of essence of
every thing shall depend only on our purification. We should break the
wall we have constructed around us to comprehend beyond it. We know
about the appearance of knowledge and praying and observe it, but we
do not know the essence.
It has been
narrated: “Praying is an ascent of the faithful people” but have you
ever thought that why we do not reach the ascent by praying? Because
of lack of pureness and purity of inside us. We should make some
changes in our thoughts. We should pay more attention to our inside.
Then we will reach comprehension of our inner soul. Our goals should
be sacred. If we study medicine, we should seek light of medicine.
Light of science needs transparent pages. The transparent page is our
inward.
Prophet of God
prescribes: ”The angels do not enter a home where a dog lives. Here,
he means an animal, named dog who will transfer many diseases. If we
pay a little attention, we will find out that some people behave like
dogs so the angels will not enter the house where such a man lives.
Even if we behave like a dog for one hour, the angels will not enter
out houses. It means the meaning of the narration. Because the surface
meaning of the narration talks about an animal named dog, but the deep
meaning is a human who acts like a dog. This way, an important stage
is purification of inside and the next stage is thinking and reasoning
about the science and its attainment. This is about reaching
attainment.
It has been
narrated from prophet of God that he stated among his friends: “You
should not act this year just as the last year”. Then he paused and
said: you should not act this month just the same as your last month.
Then again he paused and said: you should not act this week just the
same as your last week. Then he again paused and said: You should not
act today just the same as yesterday. He added: your present minute
should not be the same as your past minute. In the end he said: your
present second should not be like your pas second.
In fact according
to this narration, the human beings are classified. Some are the
people who will understand their failure the next year. Some
understand it after one month and some after one minute and some at
the same minute they are committing the crime. So, if prophet said
your present second should not be the same as your past second, it
means that evolutionary movement of those who seek attainment means to
avoid all the evil one had the previous year, so having such a model
we understand how to attain this goal. We should learn from the book:
Merajol Saadat how to walk, how to run, how to fall down and how to
stand up, but we should know that the real leader is God. We should go
to reach the utmost all the far distances. Of course taking this path
we are hopeful to 14 innocents (peace be upon them) who might take our
hands and might assist us. It is worth mentioning that our being a
human necessitates that we do not make blunders. But it is important
to understand that God has created us pure and we should reach the
degree of successors of God on the earth. Of course just as God likes
us to be his successor on the earth, He will help us Himself. He let
us study and paves the way for us. It will be enough if we meditate,
do not depend on the world, love the hereafter. We are living in this
world but we should live for the hereafter. If we exit ourselves, we
will be like Horr Ibn Yazid Riahi who left his previous life though he
was an aged man. So, the age, literacy, money, .. shall not make our
criteria. If we are not separated from this world, we will not be able
to gain the truth. Even if we are bothered, we should stand and should
make efforts for the hereafter. Since, the world and the hereafter are
not joined. In paradise, the poor have a rank, the reach can not have.
It is the same in the world and considering spiritual ranks. The
spiritual ranks and the world can never join. One who enjoys welfare
in the world, will not be sorrowful for the life and for money, to the
same proportion, in the future world, he will lose a part of paradise.
He prescribed according to the same narration: “The world is the farm
of the Hereafter”. The more we are bothered in this world, we will
reclaim our future. One who governs on his family or the people, will
have no reign in the hereafter, even if we are so good that we are not
tortured there, and even if we hold spiritual ranks, we will lose in
the hereafter the same welfare. For the same reason, the innocent
(p.b.u.h.) having so much wealth, were living like the poor. In the
houses of our Imams food was not quickly made. The kitchens of their
houses were lighted the last in the city. It was the rule of all
Imams. Imam Mousa Kazem (p.b.u.h.) was imprisoned for thirteen years.
He was a powerful man, but he was satisfied with God’s wish. When the
people were taking oath of allegiance with Imam Ali (p.b.u.h.), a Jew
entered and asked: Who is he? They said, He is Ali (p.b.u.h.). He
asked: Is he the same person who captured Khaibar? Why don’t he kill
them? They replied: because God has ordered him to keep silent not to
rebel. The Jew said: If he is keeping silent for the sake of Islam, so
I convert to Islam. And then he converted to Islam. 100 Jews converted
to Islam, witnessing silence of Ali (p.b.u.h.). He made 100 people
converted to Islam by his silence, so we should see what he did during
25 years of his silence. He attracted the hearts to himself by his
silence.
If praying keeps
vice and prohibited acts far from man, and God prescribes in Sura:
Ankabout, verse: 45: “Indeed, praying will keep you away from vice and
prohibited acts” so why so many people pray but they seek prohibited
acts? When some one is seen naked by others, how can he conceal his
body at praying.
Imam Khomeini
stated before his death: “It will be sufficient to me if I have prayed
two units which have been accepted by God.” this is praying which
removes lust and prohibited acts and will let man ascend.
If we do not
obtain the true knowledge, if we are not aware of essence of the
affairs, we will shout in the future world, as Mulla Ahmad Naraghi
said: “Alas! Because I faulted in obeying God (Sura: Zamar, Verse:
56).
Those who shout
like this, will go to Paradise. They will say: “Alas! I hope I had not
done it! I hope I had not told this. They are with God, next to him.
and shout: This book will teach to us that in a farm capable to grow
the plants, how they should lay seeds so that the plant is green and
grows healthily to be attained and this is the objective of this book.
