To be far from ethical rascality, we should firstly understand our inner powers so that we can know what we are made up of. There are four powers in human: 1. Wisdom, 2. Wrath, 3. Lust, 4. Conjecture .

When man is born, human soul is free of any dirt. We pollute it gradually and the more our age increases, our soul is more polluted and its root is more powerful and more expanded. We should know that our organs are serving our soul. The four powers are also serving our soul toward attainment. These four powers are placed at the peak and each is divided into different parts.

1. POWER OF WISDOM: Wisdom serves as a governor and can govern on human beings. Wisdom can recognize the good and the evil and orders to the good and prohibit from the evil. When we make an error and reproach ourselves, this is our wisdom which orders or reproaches us. All the human attainment is created under the shadow of wisdom. The more we use our wisdom, the higher is its output. When we do not use our wisdom correctly, the more we are aged, the less we understand. It can be told that we will understand to the same extent as a little child does, even if we are aged.

To use our wisdom we should think, we should make policies to reach the wise conclusion and in order to think, we should have science and a science will be suitable if it knows the self. So, self knowledge shall be essential for growth of mind. Thus, the well known narration: “One who does not know his self, will not know his God” can be well comprehended. One who understands the reality of his being and knows how to use the four powers and his wisdom will well know Almighty God.

2. POWER OF LUST: In fact, it is necessary for health of body and is a means for attainment of soul, thus, the power of lust is much important, but we should see how we can balance this power, so that our lives is not spend on lust.

3. POWER OF CONJECTURE: The work of conjecture is to comprehend the detailed affairs. When we know the minutes and the details of a problem and consider the nuance. In any work we research to find the whys and how of which, it means that our conjecture is operating. Conjecture is different with thought. Our thought will help us reach the thoroughness, but conjecture will open the way to Satan. By influencing on conjecture, Satan can penetrate our minds to deviate us.

4. POWER OF WRATH: The power of wrath seeks removing the harmfulness from human being and removes whatever will cause loss. Of course the factor of loss shall be out of the body of human being. The characteristics such as hypocrisy, arrogance, self-conceit, polytheism are arisen out of power of wrath. The power of wrath influences on lust and conjecture and strengthens them. For example, a person, relying on his own conjecture, considers the movements and behaviors of others and has negative findings, feels pessimist toward others and feels that the others are treating him with self-will. So, he seeks taking revenge and all the conjectures are due to motivation of wrath.

In some cases, wrath leads us to be greedy for the food. By seeing the food we are motivated and start eating quickly. In this way, we are greedy in eating and in addition we strengthen the power of wrath. Since, wrath is accompanied by speed and haste, we make haste in eating and seek better foods than others and this way, wrath influences on lust.

As soon as wrath moves, it shall be controlled and be obedient to wisdom, otherwise it will be harmful. We should make a framework for wisdom to contain the three powers of wrath, lust and conjecture.

The wise man understands the evil act of others, but he does not show a negative reaction, but keeps patient and disregards the evil act. The three powers reach attainment by preserving the same framework. Of course we should consider that the more we are aged, the dust of sins make a barrier on our wisdom and mind and this way our thoughts are polluted and our comprehensions are worse. Of course we can gradually awaken the mind and thought to work and this is a Jihad for God.

At the time of prophet of God (p.b.u.h.) after the war of Badr, the soldiers of Islam were so happy and thought that they had the great holy war. Prophet of God (p.b.u.h.) prescribed: “ You did not win the great war but the little war and now it is the time to win the great war which is fighting with your own selves.”

Having a war with soul means: we control any false and negative thought towards the others. We should not release it to go wherever it wants. Some times our thought goes so much further that we fall and we can not reach it, like day dreams of a youth when he dreams about 50 years later in his conjectures.

So, our thought should not go as far as it wishes. If a mind is released to exit the framework of wisdom and religion, it will deviate and will be polluted with thousands of sins such as offence, gossip, …. Such a person will lose his beliefs and will exit gradually the religion.
