In the
previous session, we told that there are four powers: wisdom, wrath,
lust, conjecture. Each of such powers does something and take a path
in the life of man. If man wishes to fight with his self in the path
of God, in other words, if he wants to fight with rebellious soul, he
shall control by his intelligence the three powers of wrath, lust, and
conjecture.
Wit is the king
of soul and shall issue all the orders and decrees. In fact, if our
action is not covered by wit, the wit which is the religious
framework, it will be good act according to the divine sciences,
because wit does not order to what is against the instruction of God.
Thus, following wit means being in the framework of reason and
religion. In other words, it is regulation of the behavior and the
life according to what Almighty God instructs.
God has granted
us gifts. When we use the gifts within this framework, it means that
we have fulfilled the rights and we approach God. If we approach God
and we are among those persons who are near God, when we are dying God
will help us to die easily, just as Imam Hossein (peace be upon him)
sits with martyrs or Hazrat Zahra (peace be upon her) comes to help
the martyrs die easily, they hug us and ascend us.
When lust is
controlled by wisdom, we will no more feel greedy when we eat food,
but we just eat according to the instruction of wit and religion, we
eat by our thoughts, we observe the regulations of eating. This is
controlling the lust. For instance, an animal eats and sleeps just by
following animal instincts without any condition. If we eat and sleep
just like this, so we will not be different with an animal, while when
we get sick, we will avoid eating harmful foods and we make ourselves
taking medicine.
The other
instance is that when our wrath is excited and we are furious or when
we are proud, if we want to observe mind instructions and religion, we
shall act jut as it has been mentioned in the verses and narrations.
Since, wrath has
been questioned in religion, o we should confront with the factors
which motivate this power and make us furious, inside ourselves, to
protect us. In this way, we can control our behaviors not to be
furious.
But, considering
conjecture, this power moves when it is cheating and using
fraudulence. It aims at deviation of us from the right and activates
moral fouls. If conjecture is controlled by wit and religion, it will
know the right way and will not be deviated.
A man acting
according to the above frame, will not make a mistake. God has created
us to become such people, to reach the divinity to be placed in the
highest rank of paradise. We should be like the angels, not to live
like the animals, some of us, are meaner than Satan, but was it the
aim of our creation? This has been mentioned in verse: 99 of sura:
Nahl: “Indeed Satan will have no influence on those who rely on their
God.” it means that God has bestowed to us the power to be influenced
on the whole world, even on Satan, angels and faun. Like prophet of
God who was sitting with Gabriel, while we seek the world. In fact we
should gain the truth and spiritual attainment, but we mistakably seek
the apparent and materialistic attainment and make efforts for
non-spiritual welfare, but is the materialistic welfare so important?
To which we sacrifice our spiritual attainment and concentrate on the
world and even commit sin for it?
We are the best
of creatures and God has prescribed in sura: Hijr, verses 29 to 35:
“When I decorate it moderately and blow into it of my soul, you will
prostrate him.” all the angles of the universe prostrated man. God
created man so high, to be the purest of all His creatures and to whom
his purest creatures, the angels prostrate. It means that we are
better than all. Even God made Satan leave the paradise because Satan
opposed dominance of Man to himself.
In continuation
of such verses, it was mentioned: All prostrated, except Satan who did
not.” Then God prescribed: “Go out of Paradise Satan! In fact you
shall leave here.” “Indeed you will be cursed in the day of
pandemonium.” Such verses reflect that Man is higher than Satan and
has domination over Satan. Unfortunately we see the men who live like
the animals whose wit does not grow. To which world, will such men
travel after they die? Do they go to the world of angels? Do they
joint God? or are they drowned in Hellish tortures?
The difference of
us with the other creatures is that, we are worried for each second of
our life and we are worried for the moments after our death. We are
not aware if the obstacles will be put in our way toward spiritual
attainment. We do not know if we will reach the eternal prosperity.
God has bestowed
to us prosperity and power and ability to recognize the four powers
and has granted to us the possibility to gain the highest ranks. The
difference between man and animal is that man can comprehend the other
world, but animal can not. It is a world where man has no power. In
such a world, there is nothing but God’s will. For comprehending the
world of creation we can move towards the good, while other creatures
can not. For instance, the animals only have the powers of wrath and
lust, so, they fight for food and request help from power of wrath, so
that their lust is satisfied. On the other hand, the angels are pure
wisdom. Their wit is not combined with any wrath and lust. They have
pure reason, thus they do not sin and obey merely God.
This way, God is
the most complete creature, so he has a heavy duty and shall leave
ignorance to reach wit to be able to control all his powers by his
reason.
Ignorance is
different with unawareness. Unawareness means not having awareness,
but ignorance is when one has knowledge but he does not act according
to it. Man should leave ignorance and astonishment to gain science and
knowledge. A knowledgeable man knows his powers and controls them by
his wit. But, an astonished man is in the state of indecision like one
who enters a room for the first time, not knowing it. an astonished
man does not his evils, he just knows that he had defects, but does
not know where the defect lies. When he leaves astonishment, he will
be aware of his defect and will cure it and this is the duty of man.
It is a pity that
man lives a life and tolerates many difficulties, but he will die
without knowing his soul. God has prescribed in Sura: Balad, verse: 4
“Indeed we created man in pain.” Man who lives in pain should know
himself and should treat himself.
With so much
value God considers for man, he shall reach the highest spiritual
grades, leaving negligence and astonishment. God is very near to His
creatures and always hears them. He even pays attention to his worst
creatures, but such a relationship shall be bilateral.
We shall make
attempt to reach knowledge of God. Amiralmomenin Imam Ali (p.b.u.h.)
stated: “ One who does know himself, shall not know his God.” so we
shall pass the borders of self knowledge to reach knowledge of God. we
should know ourselves, hoping that we would observe what Hazrat
Amiralmomenin Ali (p.b.u.h.) had prescribed so that he would ask God
to forgive us after we die. Is it possible that man makes endeavors
but the sacred Imams do not come to help him when he is in the grave?
But, the
important point is that we should always take the same path. If in the
day of Ashoura we take care of our act, but the day after we forget
about it, it won’t be useful. If from day of Ashoura in this year we
attempt to the Ashoura of the next year to change ourselves, to move
towards spiritual attainment, we will be hopeful to assistances of the
sacred Imams for the next life.
We should be
worried for the period of isthmus and should correct it with our
actions. Though we are hopeful to Imams to help us, but we should make
our isthmus ourselves, so that we are forgiven in the day of
pandemonium for our pure tears for Imam Hossein (p.b.u.h.) or the
other relatives of prophet or for any effort we have made in our
lives. Do not doubt and do not let Satan enter so that in the day of
pandemonium your hands are empty, but intercession shall have
different stages depending on our acts.
In pandemonium a
group of closest persons to God enter gathering place in the day of
judgment whose light will make blind the eyes of the sinful people. It
has been narrated that when Hazrat Zahra enters pandemonium, she
enters like a light from the east and exists from the west. She is our
model and we should follow her. If we are among those who are near to
God, our lights will make blind the others’ eyes and no one will be
able to look at us except he is among those who are near to God.
In fact, by
knowing our four powers and ourselves we will build our isthmus and
our goal in this world is the same thing. If there is a decree of
inviting to good and prohibiting from evil, they serve the same
purpose. We should not be hopeless, because Satan will enter us in the
same way. The worth point is that our sins are cleaned if evils are
removed and we fight for cleaning our souls. Of course, the human
being are promoted in isthmus too. For instance they are promoted to
the second level of paradise and then they gradually go up to the
higher levels to reach the closest to God. if in the same world, we
make efforts, we will be so much helped after we die, no other man
would be so much helped.
The closest to
God are the right group and we should control the three powers by wit
to reach 100% of wisdom and we reach such a place, in fact we have
reached the position of angles, because they are pure wisdom. In this
stage we can have relationships with the angels to influence on them.
Then we will reach a higher rank to reach the closest to God, relying
on Almighty God. so a man who defeats evil, will be saved and will
gain knowledge.
