The
holy prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) prescribed:
“
Imamate is superior and higher and deeper than what the people might
themselves gain or might attain it by their own wills or might elect and Imam
themselves.” (Osoul-e Kafi, volume: 1)
It was
18th day of month: Zihajeh, 10th year after Hijrat of
prophet. Prophet (p.b.h.h.) and his allies went to Beytollah Alharam and
approximately 120,000 people were traveling. At the heart of greatness and
inwardness of this spiritual travel, this time another pulse was on. No one
knew what was going on, but everything showed coming of the
great happening.
Coming back from Haj, holy prophet (p.b.h.h.) commanded the caravan to stop at
a place before Jahfeh, at junction of paths of those who were coming from
Medina, Egypt, Iraq, and Najd, at
Ghadir Khom.
Prophet (p.b.h.h.) commanded the caravan to stop to make ready the allies and
at last the waiting was ended and the prophet (p.b.h.h.) stood at the peak of
the pulpit and began his speech, which painted the green line of history on
the scene of the day, so that those who searched for
reality, would know that
the it was the path of
prosperity.
The
dear friend of God began this speech in this way:
“Praise shall go the God Who is High and One, Who is The Sole, the Unique, …
Who owns a greatness which shall not be destroyed. He creates and He returns
the creatures, …. Oh! The People! I did not fail to let you know what God has
ordered, and I will tell you about the reasons of this verse coming to us:
“Thou! The prophet! Notify to the people what has been sent to you by your
God, otherwise, you have not fulfilled your prophecy and God will save you.”
Gabriel came to me, three times and commissioned me on the part of my God to
speak in this gathering and to announce to all the people, white or black that
ALI son of Abitaleb, is my brother, my executor, my successor to the nation
and is the Imam after me. His relation to me is that of Aaron to Moses; except
that there will come no prophet after me and he will be your leader after
Almighty God and His prophet.
God sent to me a verse of his Book in this
regard:
“Your authority is God and then His prophet and those who are faithful
and pray, who help the poor when they are praying.”
It was Ali son of Abitaleb
who helped the poor when he was praying. Oh! People! I asked Gabriel to
request God to exempt me of such a great notification, because, I am aware of
low number of the pious, high number of the hypocrite, corruption of those who
blame the people and tricks of those who make fun of Islam. Those who are
described by God in His Book as those who says something which is not in their
hearts and consider it an easy task, while it is an important thing for God.
If I want to, I can introduce them by their names and by their signs, and if I
want, I will but for God’s sake, I have treated them with honor. After all,
God will not be satisfied with me, except if I announce what God has
prescribed to me considering Ali.
Oh!
People! You should know something about him and should understand that
Almighty God has elected him as your Imam and your authority whose obedience
is compulsory, ….; because Almighty God is your creator, after him his prophet
and after him ALI shall be your authority and after him Imams who are his
children, until you will meet God and His prophet.
Oh!
People! Ali is superior to others. There is no science, except that God has
collected it inside me and I have taught to Imam of the pious men, all the
science I have learned and there is no science , except if I have taught it to
Ali.
He is Mobin Imam, mentioned in verse: YASIN: “And we collected everything
in MOBIN Imam.
Oh! Pople! Do not deviate him towards others, do not turn from
him and his imamate. He shall guide you to the truth and will act. He will
cancel the void and will prohibit evil and no blameful man shall prohibit him
of his honest acts. Oh! People! Ali is pre-eminent to all the people after me.
When God sends to the people their portions and the people stay, He shall be
angry about the person who rejects my speeches and opposes me. Beware that
Gabriel has announced to me this and prescribed: “Anyone who is enemy of Ali
and will not accept his imamate, will be cursed.” Everyone will see, what he
has sent for his future. Fear God and do not oppose Ali, … He will explain to
you Koran and will interpret it to you. No one will do that except the man I
am taking his hand up.
Whoever considers me as his authority, now, Ali shall
be his authority. He, Ali son of Abitaleb shall be my successor and has been
elected as Imam by Almighty God. Oh! People, Ali and his pure sons are
Sighl
Asghar
and Koran is
Sighl Akbar. Each of them tell you about the other one and
agrees with it. They shall not part until they enter Kosar dock to join me.
Know that
they are agents of God among the people
on the earth. Beware that I
told you what I had to and I notified to you what God said, beware that I let
you hear God’s voice and made it clear to you. Beware that God prescribed and
I say on His behalf that Amir Almomenin is my brother and this title shall not
be proper for anyone, but him.
The
highest piety of Imam Ali (peace be upon him)
A man
said to Amir Almomenin (p.b.u.h.):
Please
let me know about your highest piety on the part of the prophet: He replied:
That he elected me in Ghadir Khom as God’s Imam on His part.
