In the last moments of his life, Hazrat Ali prescribed: “Hassan! All Children of my relatives, all the faithful people who receive my writing, I testate you to piety and abnegation, …”

God prescribed in Holy Koran in 240 cases the subject of piety in different forms and has seriously instructed the people to be pious. Amir Almomenin Ali (p.b.u.h.) has suggested and confirmed the people in Nahj Albalagheh to be pious in 77 cases.

Piety, means keeping the soul from deviations and errors which lead man to fall. To discuss piety, it is necessary to propound some important cases on enormity of human soul, of which piety is the evolutionary self-preservation.

1.Those who have failed the first relation out of the four-relations (relationship between man and himself). In the other 3-fold relationship (relationship of man with God, with the World, and with the other men) he will lose again. Because no one knows what are the collection of inner aptitude and what are the individual cases; Admittedly he does not know which reaction they should have against the high human values. For the same reason, Amir Almomenin (p.b.u.h.) prescribed: “Whomever closes his eyes on himself and pays attention to others, shall fall into darkness and tumult.

2.Anyone who is not familiar with himself, his acquaintance and relation is absolute with no one and there is no logical thing, this is not a confirmation of the first issue.

3.A sentence has been narrated by Socrates: “Know thyself! If you know thyself, you will be able to know the nature and metaphysics; so, if by his knowledge, one knows a branch of a tree, it will be more valuable than knowing the great cosmos without having known himself.”

Indeed, by his own knowledge, man will be successful truly to know God and when he knows God, he has known the direction of the real origin  and the creator of the whole being; thus, he will be able to know the fundamentals of world of creation.

Amir Almomenin has prescribed in oration No.161 of Nahj Albalagheh: “You, creatures of God! I suggest you to piety and to obey Almighty God; because this is only piety which saves men on the day of punishment and is the eternal savor. Almighty God has threatened the people not to oppose His Orders and has encouraged much His followers to follow Him. So, do not consider the things which makes you wondered in this world; because there will remain with you the things of the world in a little amount. This world is the closest home to wrath of God and is the farthest home from God’s satisfaction.

You creatures of God! Close your eyes to the sorrows and working of this world, because you are sure that you will be separated from the world and the world will be separated from you and you know that the status of the world are permanently altering. 

Indeed! The field and the requirements of attachment to the materialist affairs of the world, is negligence of reality of life and relation with God; thus, bound with this world, more than necessities of the life- is case of separation from God. So, one would rather be satisfied as much as possible only to that extent of the world so that all the people of the world might enjoy a deserved life and me, or my soul or my personality is saved from pollutions that piety has no other meaning.
