IN THE NAME OF GOD

From Ashoura to Arbaein

 It is the 10th day of month: Moharam. War is ended. There is a chaos. Man has displayed at this district all the turpitude, all the villainy. The corpse of the pure creatures of God are left on the earth. Their miserable wives gaze. Satan in the body of man states happiness. Omar Sad has cut the head of Imam Hossein (p.b.u.h.) and has given it to Kholi ibn Yazid and Hamid ibn Moslem, dispatching them to Obaid ibn Ziad. Then sent to Ibn Ziad, the heads of the other martyrs by Shemr ibn Zi Aljoshan and Gheys ibn Ashas and Omar ibn Alhejaj.

It is 11th day of Moharam. Omar Sad prays on the soldiers killed in his army and burns them. Now, family of prophet are boarded on camels without saddles. Son of Hossein (p.b.u.h.)  is chained.

Are they the Turkish or Roman slaves? Look at them when they are passed along with the slaughterhouse. The screams and mourning are heard, as if the earth and the sky mourn, what would happen to the corpse.

The army Omar Sad exit Karbala. A group of people come. They are Bani Asad tribe. They pray on the corpses and bury them. They make graves for most of the martyrs. The white birds fly over the corpses. This is near Kufa. It is said that Ibn Ziad has installed each head of a martyr on a bayonet, showing them to the relatives of Imam. They want to exit the bayonets from the gates to pass them through the alleys and streets, to show them to the people to make all frightened and threatened. How might a man become a beast?

Kufa, the city of evil, betrays, hypocrisy, discord. Here, Zeynab delivers speeches. She curses the people of Kufa. Omme Kolsum, speaks. Fatemeh daughter of Imam Hossein (p.b.u.h.) speaks. The people has nothing to say. They only cry. They shall cry on the tragedy up to the end of the world.

The crown of Kufa is filled with the people. The relatives of Imam enter. Ibn Ziad expresses much joy. His life is now blossomed. Now, it is the time for him to be happy. Alas, he shall stay cursed perpetually. He sold his afterlife to the short life in this world. He sold his hereafter. What a wonderful word: hereafter. It seams that the word coordinates the whole being of man for the goal for which he lives. One should die for his goal. Everybody fears. No one can reply. What should say? They should look down and gaze to the earth. It is only the kindness of God which make you hold up your head and make your eyes shiny.

It has got night. They pass the head of Imam Hossein through all the streets of Kufa. The world has worn the dress of mourning. They say Ibn Ziad has sent a letter to Yazid. He might kill the other members of Imam’s family too. Yazid has replied: “send to Sham, the heads of the martyrs, together with their properties”.

It is the first day of month: Safar. They enter to Damascus the sacred head of Imam Hossein (p.b.u.h.) and hold a fete. They make the relatives of Imam enter the party of Yazid together with the heads of the martyrs. Yazid has a ceremony and has been seated on crown luxuriously. There are many speeches, mourning, cries, tears.

Zeynab, daughter of Fateme, delivers speeches like her father, Ali (p.b.u.h.), so impressively that if Yazid knew, he would not let them enter the ceremony in front of all the people. Most of the people are now regretful. Alas! It has happened.

Zeynab (p.b.u.h.) says: Thou! Yazid! You think now that you made our lives so difficult and made us pass through the cities like the slaves, you belittled us and increased your own dignity? You will joint your fathers soon. You will wish you had been dumb, blind, and mute, so that you would not say, what you have told and you would not do, what you have done. “She prayed: “Almighty God! Revive our rights and retaliate those who oppressed us, be furious to whomever who killed our supporters and fought with us.”

She continued speaking, unit it seemed that Yazid was regretful. No! he was not regretful, but he only feared the rebel of the people. Again he feared to lose his world not to lose his aftermath. He ordered to let them endow in the ruins. This keeps out neither cold nor hot, this is a cottage out of which only the mourning is heard.

Yazid called the relatives of Imam and told them they could stay to live in Sham respectfully or would leave healthily for Medina. They wanted to go back to Medina and they moved under supervision of Naman ibn Bashir who was taking care of them. It is said that on the 40th day after the even of Karbala, Jaber ibn Abdollah went to Karbala to pilgrim the grave of Imam Hossein (p.b.u.h.). It has been narrated that he was so sorrowful he fainted on the grave. It has been narrated that he talked too much with the grave and prayed too much.

It has been narrated that on Arbaein, the year after, the relatives of Imam pilgrim the graves of martyrs of Karbala, they mourned, they cried and made it a habit throughout their lives, so that each of them died and were buried near the martyrs of Karbala.
