Speech is the
mirror of the soul; because the presumptions, intentions, and thoughts
and beliefs of the speaker are manifested in it. It is obvious that
the more soul is great and powerful, the prettier and more agreeable
is its manifestation. Those who have performed in the world the great
and wonderful works, have their actions witness the greatness and
ability of their souls honestly. In this regard, those whose great
and wonderful actions have lead to optimization and attainment and
interests of the humanity, are placed in the first line in the stage
of dignity and genuineness. Among the children of Adam, they serve as
a sun among the stars which protect by their light and power having
been bestowed to them by God, the life and spiritual order of the
world from chaos and destruction and their behaviors and speech
concentrate on guidance of man to the desirable attainment.
Now, we review
the life of one of such divine selected men, whose life, behavior, and
words represent his great soul:
Sheikh Tabarsi
has narrated from Abou Lezat Heravi, one of the close friends of Imam
Reza (p.b.u.h.) who said: I did not see anyone more knowledgeable than
Ali ibn Mousa Alreza (p.b.u.h.) who had not been seen by any
knowledgeable man except if he witness the same thing as I have
witnessed; as, Mamoun, the governor was gathering in several meetings
a group of literate people, men of letters, jurists, and speakers to
hold discussions and arguments and Imam was defeating all of them and
they all were acknowledging superiority of Imam (p.b.u.h.) and their
own faults.
From
among morals of Imam,
we might mention that: he never cut anyone’s speeches, intervening and
never reject the needs of a person if he could fulfill it. Never he
would stretch his feet in front of the others in a gathering never
would lean on his seat against the others. He was on fast three days a
month on the first and the last Thursdays of the month and on
Wednesday in the middle of the month. He believed that being on fast
on these three days would be equal to being on fast throughout the
age. He was also prescribing: “Whoever convoys the corpse of a friend
of us, shall be cleaned of sins, just as he was born from the mother.
Some of the
theosophical words of Imam (p.b.u.h.) to Rayan ibn Solat:
Imam prescribed:
“Thou! Aba Solat! Almighty God shall not be described by the place and
the time and might not be comprehended by ones’ eyes and imagination;
but He might only be seen by the eyes of ones heart”.
He also
prescribed: “Faith is a rank higher than Islam and piety is a rank
above faith, and certainty is superior than piety and nothing has been
distributed among the creatures which is superior to
certainty.”
He also stated:
“Trust and be faithful to Almighty God; because He prescribes:
My faithful creature trusts Me and I treat him with the same good
faith; if they have good faith, I shall treat them well, if they have
bad faith and have evil opinions, I shall entangle them by the evil.”
Anywhere else,
Imam Reza (p.b.u.h.) stated: “Whenever the
people commit a
new sin,
God shall impose on them a
new catastrophe
which has had no record of occurrence before.
Ahmad ibn, Omar
ibn Abi Nasr says: In a letter Imam (p.b.u.h.) had written himself, I
read: Notify to my Shiite that my pilgrimage shall be acceptable equal
to one thousand pilgrimages to Mecca.
The narrator
says: “I was surprised and told to Imam Javad: 1000 pilgrimage to
Mecca? And he said: “Yes! 1000 thousands of pilgrimages to Mecca, if
they are aware of his rank and his rights.”
Imam Sadegh
(p.b.u.h.) considered that Imam as the judge of the nation. It has
been mentioned in the pilgrimage of that Imam: “Greetings to ombudsman
of the oppressed and to the person for whose sake the land of Khorasan
has been the place for raise of sun.”
Imam; pure of
any sin, lacking any defect, full of knowledge, is well-known for his
patience and glory and we shall enjoy the lights of such suns in our
religion and in our schools of thought to be released of the
loneliness inside us. A good and effective word is one which
penetrates into the hearts, which releases the soul of all darkness
and awkwardness, which protects the soul of any meanness to fly in a
wide horizon, lighted by faith.
